Terms of Use

Effective July 24, 2026 · covers the surgicalcalculators.com website

1. Acceptance

By using this website you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the site.

2. Intended use

SurgCalc provides risk estimates and outcome benchmarks derived from published literature and clinical registries to support clinical reasoning and education. Outputs are population-level statistical estimates — not medical advice, not a diagnosis, not a prescription, and not a treatment directive. Treatment decisions must be made by qualified clinicians who retain full professional responsibility. Use of the site does not create a doctor–patient relationship. If you are a patient, discuss any output with your own physician.

3. Not a medical device; no FDA clearance

These calculators are not a medical device and have not been evaluated, cleared, or approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration or any other regulatory authority.

4. No warranty

The site and its outputs are provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including accuracy or fitness for a particular purpose. Evidence status, model version, data sources, and limitations are disclosed on each calculator page; you are responsible for confirming a model's applicability to your patient population and clinical context before relying on it.

5. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, SurgCalc and Abigail MD, Inc. are not liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, consequential, or special damages, or for any clinical outcome, arising from use of or reliance on this site or its outputs.

6. No patient information

The calculators do not request patient identifiers, and you must not enter them. You are responsible for using the site in compliance with HIPAA, your institution's policies, and all applicable laws.

7. Intellectual property

Site content is © Abigail MD, Inc. You may use the calculators for their intended professional and educational purpose; you may not misrepresent the site or its outputs. The underlying models are described in the peer-reviewed publications cited on each page and on the About page.

8. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Delaware, USA, without regard to conflict-of-laws rules.

9. Changes

We may update these Terms; continued use after an update constitutes acceptance.
